Full-chip, epoxy and polyaspartic coating options

Our recommended full-chip system combines a polyurea basecoat, decorative chips and a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. Epoxy options are also available when suited to the project.

Those names describe components of a system. Preparation, coating compatibility, application conditions and the intended use matter alongside the product chemistry.

Appearance and texture

Decorative chips create a blended pattern. Metallic epoxy offers a different, flowing appearance. Compare samples, sheen and texture before selecting a finish.

Added texture can improve grip but may take more effort to clean. No coating should be treated as slip-proof when wet.

Can cracked, pitted or previously coated concrete be coated?

Often, but the existing surface determines the work. We inspect damaged areas, old coatings, contamination and moisture concerns before recommending the preparation.

Peeling paint or epoxy: loose or incompatible material needs removal or other appropriate preparation.
Cracks and pitting: identify the repairs included and how moving cracks or joints will be treated.
Moisture: findings may change the system or require addressing the source before coating.
Slab movement and drainage: a surface coating does not correct structural movement, poor drainage or an active leak.

A square-foot price needs a defined scope. The measured area, removal, repairs, moisture treatment, coating layers and included details determine the total.

Questions before choosing a concrete finish

Is a coating the same as polished or stained concrete?

No. A coating adds a compatible finish system over prepared concrete. Polishing mechanically refines the concrete, while stains change its appearance. Tell us the result you want so we can discuss whether a coating is the right approach.

Can a coating stop water coming into a basement?

A decorative coating is not a substitute for correcting leaks or drainage problems. Share previous water issues before selecting the floor.

How do I care for a coated concrete floor?

Remove loose grit, clean spills promptly and follow the installed system’s cleaning instructions. Protect the surface when moving equipment or furniture, and ask which cleaners are suitable.
