Choose LVP for the room, not just the sample
Luxury vinyl plank can be a practical choice for busy living areas, kitchens, rental homes, and suitable basement spaces. The right product depends on the room, the existing surface, and how the floor will be used.
Compare samples in your home’s lighting. Plank width, texture, bevels, and repeating patterns become more noticeable across a whole room than on a small display board.

Waterproof planks are not a waterproof room
Spills still need cleanup, and water can reach the subfloor at edges, seams, or other openings. A waterproof product does not resolve basement leaks or persistent slab moisture.
We assess moisture conditions and the selected product’s requirements before recommending a basement installation.
Plan for pets and daily wear
No plank is scratch-proof. Product selection, furniture pads, clean entry mats, and removal of grit all affect how the floor holds up.
Unlike refinishable hardwood, damaged LVP generally needs a product-specific repair or plank replacement rather than sanding.
Product specifications matter
Wear layer, surface finish, core construction, locking system, and warranty should be considered together. Overall thickness alone does not establish quality.
We help compare products for your traffic, budget, and intended use. Attached padding does not automatically mean additional underlayment should be installed.
The installation starts below the flooring
The subfloor must meet the product’s requirements for flatness, dryness, cleanliness, and soundness. A floating floor does not eliminate the need for preparation.
High spots, dips, loose material, and moisture concerns need assessment before installation. Preparation may become clearer after the existing flooring is removed.
Plan doorways, edges, and transitions
A continuous-looking floor still needs an installation plan. We account for plank direction, door clearances, perimeter expansion space, fixed objects, and connections to other flooring.
Some layouts require transition breaks under the manufacturer’s instructions. Stairs need compatible tread and nosing details and are priced separately from flat flooring.

Complete trim and transitions
Finish the included perimeter trim, doorways, and adjoining floor connections without restricting required floor movement.

Walk through the completed installation and explain cleaning, furniture protection, and the product’s care requirements.

Can LVP go over the existing floor?
Sometimes, but that decision depends on the existing material, its condition and the new product's installation requirements. Adding another layer also changes floor height at doors, appliances and adjoining rooms.
Tell us what is there now and whether multiple flooring layers are present. We assess whether removal or additional preparation belongs in the estimate.
What needs to happen before the crew arrives?
Agree on who moves furniture, handles appliances and clears the installation area. Identify any kitchen, bathroom or walkway you need to keep accessible.
Product availability, removal, subfloor work and the installation method affect the schedule. Confirm those details before coordinating movers or other trades.
