Why KC homeowners choose LVP

The short version

Luxury vinyl plank flooring that looks like hardwood in Kansas City living room

LVP is waterproof, durable, comfortable underfoot, and — in modern products — looks like actual hardwood at a glance. For spaces where solid hardwood is risky (basements, bathrooms, laundry rooms) or where budget and performance both matter, LVP is usually the right call.

Where LVP works best

LVP flooring installed seamlessly across kitchen and living room
  • Basements. KC basements deal with moisture. LVP over a quality vapor-barrier underlayment is the most practical finished-flooring option for below-grade spaces.

  • Kitchens and bathrooms. Waterproof means spills and splashes are a non-issue.

  • Open-concept main floors. Runs seamlessly across large areas with minimal transition strips.

  • Rentals and high-traffic homes. Durability and easy maintenance make it a smart investment-property choice.

  • Whole-home installations. Consistent look across every room, one material to maintain.

Product grade matters

Not all LVP is built the same. Wear layer thickness, core construction, and click-lock quality separate the products that last from the ones that fail early. We steer you toward products with a minimum 12-mil wear layer for residential use, rigid-core construction for dimensional stability, and attached underlayment where appropriate.

Subfloor prep is the difference

Subfloor leveling and preparation before LVP flooring installation

LVP is forgiving of minor subfloor imperfections — but significant dips, humps, or moisture issues will telegraph through and shorten the floor's life. We test concrete moisture in basement installs and level subfloors where needed.

Our LVP installation process

Subfloor inspection.

Flatness, moisture, and condition checked. Concrete slabs get tested for vapor transmission.

We help you choose a product matched to your space and traffic — wear layer, core, and look included.

Acclimation.

LVP needs to adjust to your home's temperature before install. We allow the time — skipping it is what causes post-install gapping.

Floating installation.

Most LVP clicks together over the subfloor without adhesive. Layout, stagger patterns, and room transitions are planned up front.

How we price LVP installation

Pricing depends on the product you choose, the condition of your subfloor, and the scope of the install. We walk the space with you, discuss product options, and itemize the quote.

Every estimate is a line-item breakdown — material, labor, subfloor prep, removal of existing flooring, and any trim work listed separately. You see what you're paying for.

Factors that move the number:

  • Product quality — entry-level LVP vs. premium rigid-core differs significantly in material cost

  • Subfloor prep — concrete leveling, moisture mitigation, or removal of existing flooring

  • Room layout — open rectangles install faster than rooms with closets, angles, and cut-ins

  • Stair work — LVP on stairs requires individual plank fitting and nosing installation

  • Underlayment type — vapor barrier underlayment for basement installs

What you get with the quote:

  • Free walkthrough, owner-led, with product samples

  • Itemized written estimate

  • Product recommendations matched to your use case and budget
